  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook ziti pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant. If using, brown ground beef or sausage until cooked through.
  • Mix cooked pasta with marinara sauce, ricotta, basil, oregano, and half the mozzarella. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
