  • Meatloaf Base:
    1 ½ pounds ground beef (or ground turkey)
    1 cup breadcrumbs
    1 egg
    1 small onion, finely chopped
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    ¼ cup milk
    2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
    1 teaspoon salt
    ½ teaspoon black pepper
    ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • Toppings:
    3 cups mashed potatoes
    1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
    6 strips cooked bacon, crumbled
    2 tablespoons sour cream (optional)
    2 tablespoons butter
    Chopped green onions or chives (garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and paprika until well combined.
  • Press the meat mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until cooked through.
  • While the meatloaf base bakes, prepare mashed potatoes with butter and sour cream.
  • Spread the mashed potatoes over the baked meatloaf base. Sprinkle with cheese and crumbled bacon.
  • Return to the oven for another 10-15 minutes until the cheese melts and is bubbly.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions or chives before serving.
