Ingredients

Scale

For the Banana Pudding:

  • 1 (5.1-ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 large ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar (optional)

For the Layers:

  • 20-24 vanilla wafer cookies, crushed
  • 2 large ripe bananas, sliced

For the Chocolate Topping:

  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Make the banana pudding: Whisk together pudding mix, milk, and heavy cream in a large bowl until thickened (about 2 minutes). Stir in mashed bananas and vanilla extract. Taste and add optional sugar if desired. Set aside.
  2. Layer the dessert cups: In small serving cups, add a layer of crushed vanilla wafers. Top with a spoonful of banana pudding, then add a few slices of fresh bananas. Repeat layers as desired, finishing with pudding on top.
  3. Make the chocolate topping: In a small saucepan, heat heavy cream until just simmering. Pour over chocolate chips and let sit for 2 minutes. Add butter, then stir until smooth and glossy.
  4. Top the pudding cups: Spoon the chocolate ganache over each pudding cup, spreading evenly to cover.
  5. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

  • For extra texture, reserve some crushed vanilla wafers to sprinkle on top before serving.
  • The optional sugar can be adjusted based on the sweetness of your bananas.
