  • 12 oz rigatoni pasta
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

 

  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  • Cook rigatoni pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté garlic and onion until fragrant.
  • Add crushed tomatoes, dried basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Reduce heat to low and stir in heavy cream and parmesan cheese until smooth.
  • Add cooked rigatoni to the sauce and toss to coat.

 

  • Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil and extra parmesan if desired.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
  • Add grilled chicken or shrimp for extra protein.

 

  • Use gluten-free pasta if needed.
