This garlic butter steak fried rice is a delicious one-pan meal with tender, juicy steak, buttery garlic flavor, and perfectly seasoned rice. A great way to use up leftover rice, this dish is quick, easy, and bursting with umami flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old)
  • 8 oz steak (ribeye, sirloin, or flank), thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas and carrots
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)

Instructions

  • Heat 1 tbsp butter in a pan over medium-high heat. Add steak, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same pan, add the remaining butter and sauté garlic until fragrant.
  • Push the garlic to one side, then pour in the beaten eggs and scramble.
  • Add the cooked rice, breaking up any clumps. Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil.
  • Toss in the peas and carrots, stirring until heated through.
  • Return the steak to the pan, mix well, and cook for another minute.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use day-old rice for the best texture. Fresh rice can be spread out and cooled before using.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste; add more soy sauce for saltiness or sesame oil for richness.
  • Swap steak for chicken or shrimp for variety.
