Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 small onion, diced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 slices of bread (white or sourdough)
  • 4 tbsp butter (for bread)
  • 8 slices of cheddar or American cheese
  • Optional toppings: pickles, mustard, ketchup

Instructions

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onions until the beef is browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2-3 more minutes, then set aside.
  • Butter one side of each slice of bread. Place one slice of cheese on the unbuttered side of four slices.
  • Add a generous spoonful of the cooked ground beef mixture on top of the cheese, then cover with another slice of cheese and top with the second slice of bread, buttered side out.
  • Grill the sandwiches in a skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes per side, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Serve hot with your favorite toppings or sides.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try adding jalapeños or sautéed mushrooms to the beef mixture.
  • You can use any cheese you prefer, like pepper jack for a spicier kick.
  • Make it a complete meal by serving with a side of fries or a salad.
