This Italian pink sauce, also known as rose pasta, combines the tanginess of tomatoes with the richness of cream to create a perfectly balanced, velvety sauce. It's a quick and easy pasta dish that’s perfect for weeknights or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz pasta (penne or fettuccine)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp butter

 

  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Cook pasta according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  • Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Sauté garlic and onion until soft.
  • Add tomato sauce, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Stir in heavy cream and butter, mixing until smooth and creamy.
  • Add cooked pasta and toss to coat.
  • Sprinkle Parmesan cheese and mix well.

 

  • Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
  • Add grilled chicken or shrimp for extra protein.

 

  • Adjust spice level by adding more or less red pepper flakes.
