  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 (14 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water and drain.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage, breaking it apart with a spoon, and cook until browned.
  3. Stir in garlic and onions. Cook until onions are translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, heavy cream, red pepper flakes, and oregano. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Toss in the cooked pasta and reserved pasta water if needed to adjust consistency. Stir to combine.
  6. Season with salt and pepper. Top with Parmesan cheese and fresh basil before serving.
